| Okay, my unintentional xanga boycott has gone on for too long. Have you ever blown your nose so much that you can't smell anything anymore, and you wonder if you blew your sense of smell out along with all that gook? Yes, I have the flu (or close enough to it that my doctor is treating me for it). I am taking Tamiflu, an anti-viral which keeps the flu from reproducing, and also a good ol' trusty Z-pac (antibiotic) for everything else (fluid in my ears, etc). I was supposed to leave yesterday morning to go with Daniel for his birthday to visit his brother and sister-in-law in Colorado, and go snowboarding. Instead, I went to the doctor, and got a diagnosis of four very lonely, sickly, solitary days. No work, no school (hah!), no play. I truly cannot remember the last time I felt this horrible. However, though I was feeling a bit worse for the wear, a few things happened today that blessed the socks off of me. The first was an e-get-well-card from a very dear friend in Missouri. He really made me smile. The second was the plethora of phone calls I've received from friends just calling to tell me to get better, and in the meantime they're praying for me (or sending me tea, thanks Sarah! , and just letting me know they're thinking about me. When you're all alone and sick, a phone call really makes a difference. The third thing was my roommate made me soup for dinner. This may not sound like much, but it is truly a blessing when you are so sick you don't want to eat anything, you get full after 4 bites of food, and then you can't take your medicine because it makes you sick to your stomach because you haven't eaten anything, but you can't eat anything because you're sick to your stomach. And so the vicious cycle continues. So, by Anna making me soup and tempting me to eat real food, I was able to get some nourishment in my body and hopefully will be able to keep down my medicine. The fourth, and best thing that happened today, is that Chad and his fiancee' Sarah called me...and they are coming to visit me! Today, I only felt the improvement in my health was the tiniest, most miniscule amount until I heard that they were coming. Then, I had such a rush of joy, that I felt better already. They love me! They care about me, and they are coming to take care of me. Such rich blessings I have in my life. Well I have exhausted myself typing so I will now say good-night. | | |
| The pale rain makes me feel as though I were in a foreign country. The tiniest of tiny droplets falling, jumping to touch my face, like kisses blown by pixie angels. The sky was so green I almost ran a red light. Listen! Listen at the top of your lungs. There is a faerie who wants a pet waterfall. What if there were rainbows instead of lines in the middle of the street? | | |
| Wow, what a weekend! Friday night was amazing. It was the day that
signifies that Daniel and I have now officially been dating for one
year. So my day was pretty much awesome. He sent me two dozen red roses
that I got at work, and then when I got off, he called and asked where
I wanted to go eat. After we picked a local Italian place, and I got
ready, he came over and picked me up. My housemate took pictures of us,
which I will try to post once she emails them to me. Then we went to Ti
Amo's, and I got Fettucine Alfredo with mushrooms and artichokes, and
Daniel got lasagna. We ate at a normal pace, but towards the end of the
meal Daniel said we needed to leave in 6 minutes in order to be on
schedule! I said okaaaay... and so we left. I had no idea where we were
going, but as he drove I recognized that we were going Downtown. We
parked at a special events parking lot, so I thought we were probably
going to some sort of music concert, or a ballet. But I didn't expect
Daniel to want to go to a ballet! As we were walking from the car, he
made small talk about what sort of pets I had as a child, and whether
or not I preferred dogs or cats. And then....
We walked up to the doorway of the Performing Arts
Center, and I saw a poster of what performance we were going to... It
was CATS!!!!!!! The Broadway performance! He had gotten tickets, and totally
surprised me with it! I didn't even know CATS was in town, and then the
announcer said it was the opening night! Then my jaw really dropped.
:-O We had balcony seats, and I really enjoyed the birds' eye
view. We could really see the patterns and movement, acrobatics, etc. a
lot better from our seats. So then I enjoyed the performance! Several
of the Cats reminded me of Belhaven people, vocally and dance-wise, and
even character-wise! For instance, Jennyanydots reminded me of Bethany,
not because she was "a gumby cat", but because she wasn't the typical
cat--instead of catching and killing small creatures, she taught the
mice to sing, and taught the cockroaches to tap dance! So
Bethy. And the vocal performances took me back to the days of Jeff
McGee and Johnny Gaither, and also included similarities to my dear
Kara, Nicole, Lee and a few others. All in all, after I realized that
there wasn't going to BE a real plot; the cats ARE the plot, then I
really really really really enjoyed it! Wow. And after watching that
wonderful performance, we went to Walmart. No, really! I had drawn a
picture for Daniel, but hadn't had time to buy a frame for it, so we
stopped by Walmart, and I ran in and got a frame and a gift bag, (and
some white chocolate peanut butter cups!) and assembled it, then gave
it to Daniel in a parking lot. I think he really liked it, it was a
picture of him and me. In fact, it was our first picture together. But
I enlarged it in a Michelle-esque drawing, which measured 8 by 10. Then
we came back to my condo where I ate a Bournville (Cadbury's, imported
from England!) dark chocolate bar he gave me while we talked, and then
he went home. *sigh*, what a wonderful day! And it is hard to believe
it has been a year already.

| I will be in Jackson in about 3 weeks! Daniel and I are leaving Tulsa
on the 21st and going to Hot Springs for Daniel's Dad's birthday (the
21st). We will stay the night and hang out w/them til the following evening,
then head for Jackson, arriving the night of the 22nd, and we will stay
through Sunday, my Dad's
birthday (the 24th). We will leave right after lunch, driving all the
way back to OK in one swell foop. So any Jacksonians who want to see me
will have to schedule sometime in there to hang out!!! Yay! I miss all
of you so much. I don't know what else to say.
